Southern Girls LOVE their P&H Pearls!

Last weekend at the Clemson vs FSU football game I was not the only girl wearing pearls to tailgate! While the years will pass and things may change, I was glad to see that one thing about Clemson has stayed the same- the love that southern girls (and most girls who attend Clemson) have for pearls. Breakfast at Tiffany’s anyone?

Not that the movie needs an introduction, but Breakfast at Tiffany’s (one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME) is a romantic comedy that follows a quirky society woman named Holly Golightly who was famously played by Audrey Hepburn. A fashion icon in her time, Audrey Hepburn’s classic scene in the movie shows her wearing lots of pearls and looking fabulous while eating a croissant outside the flagship Tiffany’s store in New York. So this week while I was thinking of what to write about, I was inspired by the new blueray release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the movie’s fiftieth anniversary. A few days ago, on September 20th, Breakfast at Tiffany’s was re-released in all its glory, and since then I have been piling on the pearls and eating croissants. Unfortunately, instead of eating my croissant while dripping in pearls and standing in front of Tiffany’s like in the movie, since I live in Naples I will have to settle for eating my croissant while watching the movie. Last week the founders of Pierre & Harry were hard at work at the Farmers Market. In the photo below they are posing with Teresa Balin and her husband, who bring a wide variety of artisanal cheeses to the market. Okay, so while today is a short blog post, we have some really exciting news. This is because Co-Founder Martha Talton arrived back from China last night with BRAND NEW inventory! While she made sure to bring back our custom orders and some new stock of our cult favorites like the Cote D’Azur strand, she has also brought back much, much, more. So today and the rest of the week we will be organizing and entering all the new stock into the computer so that y’all can start shopping our gorgeous new jewelry. For instance, are you a HUGE College Football fan? What better way to show your college spirit than by wearing a Carnivale bracelet? Puppies and Pearls!

Okay so is it just me, or does everything seem to be going to the dogs? From Anthropologie’s silk screened dog T-shirts inspired by their employee’s pets to Louis Vuitton’s new fall ad campaign featuring models cuddling up to pups in vintage cars, it seems like people just can’t get enough of their pooches. And here at Pierre & Harry we are rejoicing at the acknowledgement of man’s (and more importantly woman’s) best friend! We adore our pups here at Pierre & Harry, so much so, that we have decided to start a new collar jewelry line for pups! We are starting off with some basic but beautiful pearl necklaces for your dogs, to be worn around the house or out on a walk layered with a collar. The whole idea began when we saw fake pearl collars at pet boutiques and thought, why not use real pearls instead? As you can see from the pictures below, Maggie Mae and Kramer LOVE their pearl collars, and your pup will too! Success at the Sip & Shop Trunk Show!

Thank you so much to all of you that came out to “Sip & Shop” at J. McLaughlin. We had a wonderful time and loved sipping and shopping alongside all you loyal J. McLaughlin and Pierre & Harry customers. Lots of success and quite a few surprises led to an unforgettable night! Mad for Mad Men

After hearing some recent news about one of my favorite television dramas, Mad Men, I decided it was high time I spotlight the show in a blog post. If you haven’t seen Mad Men, it is a thrilling show set in the 60′s which focuses on the intrigue and drama among the employees and their families in the fictional Sterling Cooper ad agency. However, I must admit that my favorite part of the show is the retro fashion that evokes the fashion icons of that time: Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Jackie Kennedy. Looking past the infamous pink Chanel suit and Givenchy LBJ from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, these women and this era all have one thing in common: a love of pearls! And this is evident from every other frame in Mad Men as almost all the women on the show are constantly wearing beautiful pearls in all shapes and sizes. The women throughout the show are fighting to show their style in a sexism dominated workplace, and manage to look beautiful and refined yet sexy in an understated way. Check out our Gallery to see the leading ladies of Mad Men in their pearls, and to see the comparable pieces we have here at Pierre and Harry!
